An exceptionally rare Xbox console has sold for a staggering 9,100 euros.

Fancy an Xbox for 9,100 euros? Well, what if we told you that there are only 50 of these models in existence, made in 2003 to promote the release of a very special film: Hulk. This is the extremely rare Hulk edition Xbox console, which was one of the 36 units given away in a competition run by British cinemas. Its special feature is obviously its green color and the Hulk and Pepsi logos which are in place of the usual Xbox logo. After 62 bids, the console finally found a buyer this year for around 9,100 euros; a sum promised to a very good cause: the money raised will be donated to the British Heart Foundation to support research into cardiovascular disease.
The machine was featured in a BBC article which tells the story of how Paul Smith, a tester for the charity British Heart Foundation, discovered its potential value by examining it: “It really caught my eye,” he said. “I’m a video game enthusiast myself,” he added, “but the rare green color combined with the Hulk and Pepsi logo really stood out.” The charity’s eBay listing also states:
“In the US, a green Xbox was created for the Mountain Dew brand. They made 5,000 of them and they are highly sought after. So this one is even rarer. There are none on eBay and none have been sold in the past, so they are rare and the chances of finding another one are slim.”
